If you know me at all, then you know that fall is by far my favorite season. Summer is nice, but it's HOT in the Midwest, too hot. It's not fun to take the girls outside just to be roasted little peanuts, so we have suffered several weeks of cabin fever. According to my weather app, this should be the last almost 90 degree day (at least for the next 10 days anyway).
I am all about the fall: the cool crisp air, the fluffy comfy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything (yes, I'm that girl), the earthy scented candles that Yankee puts back on the shelves, but most of all, I love Halloween. I get positively giddy when I start seeing the Halloween decorations go up in stores and admittedly have taken nonsense trips to the mall, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's all just to browse their displays.
Last year, we had our fifth and last baby girl on October 12th, so I didn't bother to put up anything. It kinda hurt my feelings not to even have so much as a spider hanging in our windows, but a c-section has a way of knocking you on your butt for a bit. This year, I had already been planning, preparing, and shopping for this spooktacular time of year months in advance AND I get to celebrate my favorite season with her birthday!
I told my husband now that the weather is starting to turn, that he should use his nice new ladder to put up my Halloween lights this weekend (yes, on top of us throwing a 1st birthday party for our daughter). He looked at me like I was insane, but he loves me, so I know he'll put them up for me even if he does grumble while he does it. He's wonderful that way.
I started outfitting my shop with some new Halloween gems weeks ago, which gave me the thought that I can't be the only one who'd already hitched herself to the pumpkin band wagon. I posted to my favorite Etsy group and was not disappointed. I received a massive response from like minded creators and am excited to share some of these fun Halloween items with everyone from some very talented creators. In fact, I intended to have this post done about a week ago, but there were so many shops that responded that it took me a little longer than I thought to get this out.
